Ofsted Inspection Outcome Letter

Following our inspection by Ofsted on 9th and 10th July 2024, I am now able to share the final report with you.  We are delighted to tell you that Ofsted have continued to judge Ferndale Primary and Nursery School as a GOOD school.  We are extremely proud of this positive outcome and would like to thank our staff, our parents and carers and our amazing children.

Comments from the Ofsted report included:

'The school has designed an ambitious curriculum with the development of pupils' language at its heart.   The important knowledge that pupils need to know is broken down into small components that build in a logical sequence.'

'Pupils' positive learning behaviours are evident from Nursery to Year 6.   There is a calm and purposeful atmosphere that pervades the school.  Pupils are safe.  They know staff will help them if they have any worries.'

The report identified that there are areas for development and these are already part of our school development plan.  We are delighted that Ofsted has recognised the work that has been done so far on developing the curriculum and we are keen to further improve teacher's use of assessment to inform future teaching and curriculum design.

We are very pleased with the outcome of our inspection and you will be able to read more about the inspector's judgements in the published report below.

Thank you to every member of the school community and our Trust who are working hard to ensure Ferndale remains a great place for children to learn.   Also, thank you to parents and carers for your continued support.
